Jesus is taken down from the Cross

This station with its devastating loss and wasted dreams drains the human soul to the point of numbness.

When Jesus is taken down from the cross, when hope dies, when all we lived for gets taken away, we eat the dust of despair. What was life about if this is what it comes to?

Then, we realize that only God is God, that we are not in charge of time or truth or the perfect world. All we can do is give ourselves over to the arms of God and trust.

For Reflection: Am I prepared to let go of everything I ever wanted so that God’s will can come another way?

Prayer: Jesus, when I am no longer able to control the situations of my life, in the midst of my pain and grief, help me to give myself over to the arms of God to wait in trust.
